Can things be TOO SMOOTH??

Tomorrow, Paul and I are going to see the inside of this house I fell in love with on the internet, then fell even more deeply in love with upon driving the neighborhood. I wasn't planning to list my house for sale until March or April, hoping to move next summer to be closer to Paul. Looking at houses was just a fun, educational experience. It wasn't intended to land me on a listing too tempting to ignore.

Okay, so we'll go look. What's the harm in that? The market is slow now. Maybe the house will still be available in the spring, right?

Then Paul tells me that a friend of his at work is seriously interested in my current house. What?? I'm not even ready to sell my house. Paul had me email photos of my house to his coworker, who remains interested.

At this rate, I could be moving in January. And I'm not ready for that. I didn't want to move until near or just after the end of PacMan's school year. This is all happening too fast!

Of course, it could all fall apart as quickly as it came together. I guess I'll just go with the flow and see what happens.

It really can't hurt to look. That doesn't mean you have to buy right this second; it just means you can determine if your love for this place is real. Please tell us your reaction on the house!!! We are eagerly awaiting it :)

That's a good attitude to have. see what happens. If it is meant to be, the pieces will all fall into place.

I know the experts say you're not supposed to fall in love with a house, and consider it a business transaction instead, but I agree it's hard not to.

When we were looking for our first home well over 20 years ago, we put a bid in on a house that I thought was wonderful. Only $1,000 separated the seller and us at the end, but I refused to budge. We ended up with a house for the same price that probably turned out to be the better deal in the long run for a number of reasons.

But I still remember that first house we missed getting. Still wonder how our lives would have been different living in the big city, instead of a small town.
